As the sun sets into the ocean, so does the genesis of creativity
In many cultures, nighttime has always been a time of creation. In the bible, God made the heavens and world before He turned on the "light switch"; in the Hawaiian Kumulipo the first creatures came out of the pō or darkness before emerging into the light; In films, werewolves have always been shown to howl under the light of a full moon. I'm not sure if there is science to this but, for me, I realized that there is some correlation to this "night time brain dancing" in my own art practice where my creativity seems to flourish when the stars shine bright.
It is because of this that I like to consider myself a night owl. Growing up, I have always drawn before going to bed, have always stayed up late playing guitar and attempting to write songs, have always worked on projects at night, and have always (not intentionally) finished homework at night. Okay, maybe I'm also a big procrastinator. But there is some truth to my story; As the sun sets into the ocean, so does the genesis of creativity. My work shown here is my creative genesis: a documentation of my ideas turned into reality. Where once was just a thought hiding in the dark, to now a work of art that is manifested into the present.
Welcome and Mahalo for stopping by!
